What to do if you’ve been scammed

Unfortunately, organizations are a frequent target of scammers because of their generosity and willingness to help others in need.  Scammers can easily obtain member information from your website and impersonate leaders to request money or gift cards.

What can you do about scams?
Educate your members. Explain how you will contact them when your organization has a need.   Tell them not to click on any links or reply to texts or emails if they are the least bit suspicious. Ask them to contact your organization by calling or sending a separate email.

Wondering if you’ve been hacked?
Rest assured, your directory is safe and secure.  It is encrypted using SSL, and communication between your device and our servers is encrypted and private.  All transmission is encrypted, including when you enter your username and password.  Passwords are always encrypted and are stored that way on our servers.

It is important to remember that your directory only includes contact information, and each member controls what they share.  Your directory does not include confidential information, such as bank account or credit card numbers.
